Robert J. Maughn, "Papa" died peacefully Thursday, March 8, 2018. surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston in 1929, Robert was the son of John and Marie Maughn. Robert's first love was his family. He leaves his cherished wife Mary Rielly Maughn of 61 years; He served in the Army during WWII and then began a 36-year career for the MBTA.
He was an active member of the Dorchester American Legion 0065 and a member of the MBTA Retirement Club. The most important part of Bob's life was his love of his wife, family and grandchildren and enjoyed attending their various events. He loved gardening, cooking large meals for his family, and being at the ocean.
Bob was the devoted husband of Mary (Rielly) Maughn, the loving father of Eileen M. Ewing and her husband Thomas of Wellesley, Margaret Brown of Medfield, Barbara Trakas and her husband Nicholas of Westwood, Mary Frances Johnson and her husband David of Medfield and John Maughn and his wife Tara of Westwood, He was the beloved grandfather of Mary-Margaret, Thomas, Michael, Matthew and his fiancée Rory, John, Elizabeth, Jean, Anna, Robert, Catherine, Anne-Marie, and Riley.
Visiting hours will be in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue, Needham on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 4pm-8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bartholomew's Church in Needham at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 12.
